Biography
Rev. Dr. Chris Sokpor is the Pastor in Charge at The Lord’s Pentecostal Church International (TLPCI) – Lakeside Estate Branch, Ashale-Botwe, Accra, Ghana. Prior to serving at Lakeside Estate Branch of TLPCI, by the Grace of God, Rev. Dr. Chris Sokpor established Monrovia- Liberia Branch of TLPCI where he was the Pastor in Charge for seven (7) years – from 3rd April 2011 to 8th April 2018.
Currently, Rev. Dr. Sokpor is the Finance Director of TLPCI and a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Church. Prior to his Ordination as the Minister of the Gospel on 2nd September, 2012, he was ordained as a Deacon for seven (7) years – from 2005-2012.
Rev. Dr. Sokpor joined TLPCI in 1990 and was baptised in 1991. As youth, he was a member
of the National Youth Executive and was the National Financial Secretary. In the corporate world, Rev. Dr. Chris Sokpor, was a Consultant with KPMG-Ghana and the Senior Partner of Deon & Noed International (DNI) – an independent firm in Advisory, Tax and Audit with presence in Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Togo & London (UK). He was an adjunct Senior Lecturer at the Liberian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (LICPA), Masters Programs at the University of Liberia and the Liberia Financial Management Training Program – sponsored by the World Bank. Currently, he is an adjunct Lecturer in Taxation at the Masters Programme at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and the Laweh Open University.
Rev. Dr. Chris holds a PhD in Accounting from Capella University in Minnesota, USA, MBA (Finance) from Central University College, LLB from University of London and BA Economics from the University of Cape Coast.
He is also a Qualified Chartered Accountant with over twenty (20) years of experience in Taxation, Finance, Accounting, Audit, and Advisory. Rev. Dr. Sokpor is a member of the following professional bodies: Institute of Chartered Accountant Ghana (ICAG), Chartered Economic Policy Analyst (CEPA) and Fellowship of the Association of Certified Chartered Economists (FCCE) – USA, Liberian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (LICPA) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Ghana. He is also a member of Ghana Institute of Management (GIM), Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy (CIPFA) UK, Certified Forensic Investigation Practitioner (CFIP), Chartered Institute of Taxation Ghana (CITG), and South Africa Institute of Taxation (SAIT). He is also a Tax Practitioner and a Member of the Technical Committee of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana.
Rev. Dr. Chris Sokpor was the Head of the Project Financial Management Unit (PFMU) of Ministry of Finance & Development Planning of the Government of Liberia. At the PFMU, Rev. Dr. Sokpor provides the overall leadership and oversight for Financial Management of Development Partners including World Bank, African Development Bank, USDAID, UNICEF, Sida, DFID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Nike Foundation, Foundatia Soros, UNESCO, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), UNDP and Multi Pooled Funds. He also consulted for the Government of Sierra Leone and the Government of Ghana through the World Bank and currently ST Consultant with the World Bank.
He is married to his lovely wife – Rev. Dr. Mrs. Edem Sokpor and blessed with three (3) children. He is a Counsellor, a Family Coach and a Motivational Speaker. He is the Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Volta Development Forum (VDF) – an International nonpolitical association with the goal of developing the region. He is also a Director of Leverage Counselling Network (LCN), Council Member of the College of Counselling and Psychology (CCP) and Executive Member of Holistic Counselling & Training Consult Limited.
