M. Bashiru Abdul-Razak

Mr. Abdul-Razak is a Principal Economist with many years of experience in the area of economic relations, tax policy, natural resource governance, environment and climate change financing. As a Principal Economics officer, Bashiru has worked and played key roles in various Divisions at the Ministry of Finance (MoF) such as the erstwhile Bilaterals, Tax Policy Unit, Policy Analysis and Research, Real Sector as well as the Economic Strategy and Research Divisions.
As a Principal Economist, Bashiru is currently, the National Coordinator of the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI) and the Head of the Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Unit at MoF. He is also a member of the National Advisory Committee of the World University Service of Canada (WUSC). The Committee provides strategic direction, guidance and oversight for the implementation of WUSC extractive sector project in Ghana.
Bashiru holds a Master Degree in Public Policy from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Tokyo, Japan and a Bachelor of Science in Administration (Banking and Finance) from the University of Ghana, Legon. He has participated in several short courses and conferences including courses in oil and gas sector, minerals and energy economics, sub-national level finance among others both in Ghana and abroad. Bashiru has since January, 2020 been serving as a Member of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) representing the Ghana Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (GHEITI).
